What to do if you are experiencing a haunting…
Do you believe you are currently experiencing a haunting? Asking yourself is my house haunted, Below these 4 steps will help you now.
Also, if you need any other assistance, please do not hesitate, to contact SF Paranormal investigators. We would be happy to talk to you about your paranormal experiences, typical signs of a haunting, and discuss the possibility of a paranormal investigation.
4 things you can do now if you experiencing a haunting
First and off it is important to remain calm? Although you may believe that your house is haunted, very few reported hauntings turn out to be paranormal. It is important that you remain clear-headed and objective while dealing with this experience. Some experiences happen only once, others reoccur. If your event only happened once, it may not be possible to find the cause.
Do not try to communicate with entities that are in your home, or try to remove or cleanse the energy from your home. By doing these actions the haunting that you are experiencing can get worse.

Document All Paranormal Experiences
If you experiencing a haunting and it is recurring, each person who is witnessing signs of paranormal activity should start a written journal. Each person should record as much information as possible about what they are experiencing.
Be sure to include time, date, where you were, what you were doing, who else was at the location when the event occurred, what they were doing, the weather, etc. Then write about the event in as much detail as you can. The journal entries should also include what state of mind you were in, and how the experience made you feel.
These journals will be critical when you begin to analyze the events that you are perceiving as paranormal or may show that these chilling signs suggest your property or you may be haunted.
Is the experience Mundane or Paranormal?
Before you can begin to consider the possibility that you are experiencing a haunting, you must first carefully rule out any mundane causes for the events (like sounds made by old plumbing systems or animals living in crawl spaces.). Review all your journals and see if any patterns emerge. Use your best judgment and common sense.
Many paranormal cases can be explained due to natural reoccurring stimuli which occur in the environment and can be perceived as being paranormal.
Research the Paranormal
If you are truly convinced you are experiencing a haunting, then the next step in dealing with it is to learn why it is happening. Begin by researching the history of the location or item that seems to be the focus of the haunting. Contact previous owners or tenants and see if they have had similar experiences.
We recommend using research sources such as Newspapers.com and Ancestry.com when trying to research the history of a property, or person. Attempt to understand the events and entities that may be causing the haunting.

Request a Paranormal Investigation
After you have examined all the possible causes for these events and you are sure you have ruled out the possible mundane causes, you may wish to contact us for additional advice or to request a no-cost, systematic, and confidential paranormal investigation of your case.
Can I remove the ghost, or cleanse my house of the haunting?
There is no absolute way to get rid of a ghost or stop a haunting. Ghosts move on when they are ready. There are psychics who claim to be able to “clear” a house. While some of these people are reputable and may have had a high success rate, be careful to hire only people that you trust. There are also a few things you can try on your own that may help alleviate activity.
One method that seems to have some success is to simply talk to the ghost. Using the information from your research, try to identify and communicate with the ghost. Sit quietly, introduce yourself, and talk to them. Try to find out what the ghost wants. Let them know that you are not going anywhere and that you will need to share the space.

How are paranormal investigations work
Contacting a paranormal investigation group can be daunting because you don’t know what to expect. We want to stress that we are not just ghost hunters that go to haunted locations but we are paranormal investigators. Below is our step-by-step framework for how our paranormal investigations work and what you can expect from us at SF Bay Area Paranormal.
Please note that each case is different in paranormal activity and in scope. We follow these phases to ensure that both the client and our paranormal investigation team are aligned so that we can give you the answers that you seeking.
How we conduct our paranormal investigations
Phase 0 – Contact
We receive an investigation request.
Phase 1 – Initial Interview
The first interview is typically conducted over the phone. This interview allows us to get the details of the case and determine if:
- The case falls within the scope of San Francisco Bay Area Paranormal goals
- San Francisco Bay Area Paranormal can meet the client’s needs. (The result of this phase is the Interview Report.)
Phase 2 – Paranormal Case Review
The main investigative team reviews the Interview Report and makes formal recommendations on how San Francisco Bay Area Paranormal can be of service to the client. If we cannot be of service the case will be passed to another organization. The result of this phase is the Case Action Plan CAP. The CAP is then reviewed with the client.
In some cases, we may request that the client consults with their health care provider prior to the start of an investigation.
Phase 3 – Execution of Paranormal Investigation
Should San Francisco Bay Area Paranormal move forward with the paranormal investigation, the team will begin to systematically execute the tasks set out in the CAP. Typically, these tasks include:
- Face-to-face interviews with the client and any relevant witnesses
- Background and historical research on the locations or items in question
- An initial on-site survey to create maps, assemble floor plans, draw sketches, take photographs, and establish a baseline measurement of relevant energy emissions
- Conduct follow-up on-site surveys as needed in order to properly document any anomalous events
- Analysis of collect data
- Formulate recommendations
This phase results in the creation of a Case Findings and Recommendation Report (CFR) that is presented to the client.
Phase 4 – Discloser and Recommendations
The investigative team reviews the CFR with the client. During this time SF Paranormal provides detailed information about what has been discovered during the course of the investigation and, if necessary, provides any recommendations. Unless there are any extenuating circumstances, the case investigation is considered complete at the end of this phase.
